paper sneakers

So when I got to work today I noticed a stack of paper sneakers at my desk. I started to dread what was about to come. I was right. We had the assignment of selling these paper sneakers for $1.00 to help the cystic fibrosis foundation. I HATE doing things like this. I feel like people come to my desk to do their business (banking business that is) and they don't want to be bothered by me asking them to give a $1.00. My manager was on my back all day about these shoes and it was driving me crazy. I finally told her I would try to sell 10 a day. I should have known I was setting myself up for failure. I have been here all day and have sold one lousy shoe. It is so frustrating. It is just a dollar and I am surprised how rude people are when I ask them.

So I have learned something today. When someone asks me to donate one dollar to help the children or the poor. I will. It's only one dollar and even though one dollar is enough to buy me my favorite bean burrito at Taco Bell, I can live without. I can just think of it as helping someone out. Helping earn money for a good cause and helping make someones job suck a little less.
