I know it has been forever since we posted an actual post. I just have not been in the mood to blog lately. Nate started a post as soon as we got home but has not finished it yet. We might do a slide show of our trip with all the pictures but for now I just wanted to post some of the 4th.
We did the cotton candy booth so we didn't really have a 4th. Most people don't understand how much work really goes into the cotton candy booth. It is always the number one seller of the day and that means we are busy pretty much the entire day.
My family started doing cotton candy about 10 years ago as a way to earn a little extra income. We have all the supplies and have it figured out what works best. We have gone to several different fairs and events to do it and have had great success. We used to do it every year at the Huntsville town celebration until they realized that it was such a huge money maker that they reserved the right to have the cotton candy booth and would not let anyone else do it. Well, they did not want to do it this year so they called our family and asked if we would be interested in doing to. My parents asked us if we wanted to do it to make some money. Of course we accepted.
We started around 10:30 and pretty much went non stop till about 10 that night. We ran out of cones and had to go get some big baggies and start putting it in bags. We started with 50 pounds of sugar and ended up running to the store to get another 50 pounds. We used it all. It was a hectic day. It was sticky and by the end of the day we were covered in cotton.
The booth before we got slammed.
Nate was actually really good at spinning. It sometimes takes people a long time to get the hang of it but Nate picked it up really quick. He made some killer cones and the kids loved getting such a big cotton candy. It was so fun to see the kids take the first bite out of a cotton candy that was half their size.
Zoee and Gus were SO good the entire day. They just played around while we worked. Thanks to my brother and sister who helped so much with the kids. We couldn't have done it without them.
This was about half way through the day. We are all getting pretty tired. We were very sticky.
Mom giving Nate a pep talk to just keep going. We were almost done!
This is right at the end of the night. We were glad to finally call it a night.
It was a good day. It was a lot of work but we had a great time. Thanks so much for my family for their help.
Oh and in case you were wondering...we made 1651 and change. In just one day. Not too bad!
